rim or conventional disc

This is nearly as big as a rim disc and has the big advantage of being an off the shelf item, and made from a approprate material.

Wheel Base

showing the potential for a very short wheel base 49" in the photo, with a 6" SA strech would still only be 55" about the same as a motogp bike

Rotary sledge

Here ive made up a kit of parts for the rotary sledge

Here it is assembeled important to get it running true, firstly with shims under the brackets and then with a littl preload on the skate wheel, otherwise id end up with a uneven pattern followed by a wonkey wheel-and we dont want that.
Ive also taken a plaster cast of the rim section as it makes it easier to messure.

Rim Profile

Here is the 14" piaggio rim, thisis what i need to acuratly reproduce, the most critical mesurment being the diameter of the 2 flats between the rim walls, to big and the tire wont fit to small and the tire won't center

Meturlagists look away now

Useing my precison test equipment i established that Yamaha made very strong and tough wheels in the 70's

Cheap Ebay Thermocouple

i brought this cheap thermocouple £17! but it was just a bit of wire (multimeter inc.) and whilst it has got a glass fiber sheath ther was a bit of shrink wrap round the buisness end!!(it can red to 1000C) so i bodged to gether this ceramic tube and drilled a hole through a soft face furnace brick. Thats 600c (1140f) which is more than enough for heat treating Aluminium, the qustion is now can i maintain the tempurature in the furnace +-10c?

frames

the new scratch built frame tacked together, Was built without a jig just A LOT of mesurment, which worked fine but on reflection was probery more work than building a jig ! .
The original Yamaha frame with the new hardtail welded on, and me reliseing that motor realy isnt going to fit in there!.

Tractor seat

Hand beaten from S1C front nose is a suspension linkage from an R1 so i could use the needle roller bearing, good quality mountain bike shock underneith, adjustable fro rebound on the fly so you could set it from very bounce right through to 'pump down' at which pont you found out just how well it had been suspending you! (ouch)
